Joan Bowers, M.S., L.M.F.T., C.E.A.P.
Joan received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University
in 1991. She earned her master's degree in Clinical Counseling
from The Citadel in 1994. She is a licensed Marriage and
Family therapist as well as a certified employee assistance
Joan has over 30 years of clinical experience including
working with children, adolescents and adults in outpatient
as well as inpatient settings. Practicing as an employee
assistance professional and as a therapist in a private
practice, Joan provided assessments, treatment and referral
services to the employees and families of contracted local and
national businesses. Joan has provided individual, family and
group therapy throughout her career.
Joan's areas of expertise are in helping
adolescents, adults,couples and families
productively address issues such as depression,
anxiety, relationship problems and past trauma.
She believes that education and practicing new
behaviors outside the session are key components
to a person making positive change in his or her life.
Joan also specializes in treating military personnel and their
families and has received additional training in this area through
the star Behavioral Health Network. She is a Clinical Fellow member
of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the
Employee Assistance Professionals Association.
